How to Change Your Car Oil

Changing your car oil is one of the most important maintenance tasks you can do. Regular oil changes keep your engine clean, reduce wear, and help your vehicle run smoothly and efficiently.

Step 1: Prepare the Right Oil and Tools

Before you begin, confirm the correct oil type for your vehicle and gather the necessary tools.

What You'll Need:

Family-Owned

Oil filter (specific to your vehicle)

Socket wrench for the drain plug

Oil filter wrench

Engine oil (correct viscosity & type)

Funnel

Jack and jack stands or ramps

Pro Tip: Always check your owner's manual for the correct oil viscosity and oil filter type.

Step 2: Raise the Vehicle Safely

Park on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands or drive it onto ramps for safe access underneath.

Step 3: Drain the Old Oil

Place the drain pan under the oil pan. Using a socket wrench, carefully loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to fully drain (this usually takes 5-10 minutes).
